Do a Wonderful Birthday Dish with Gruyere Cheese by Dominick Sexton
My closest friend advised me that she’s staying at my place for the night. I was intrigue in her impetuous declaration. She is not used of such thing. I could not forget that it is her natal day today. I figure that she’s celebrating her birthday alone again just like the past two years since her parents are usually out of town or out of the country for business. I know she’s sad so I am thinking of making her day special. I know most of her loves and hates for we have been together as friends for years. We both love pasta so I decided to make her our all time- favorite Egg Fettuccine with butter, Gruyere Cheese and toasted walnuts.
I first checked out the needed ingredients and found out that I don’t have Gruyere cheese on hand. So, I rush to the nearby cheese shop to buy the missing ingredient. When Gruyere cheese is delivered, then I’m moving on. Luckily, 30 minutes is just enough to accomplish this dish. I heated a large pot of water until boiling point. I added salt and the 12 ounces of Egg Fettuccine. Salt and Egg Fettuccine was then incorporated to the boiled water. I cooked the pasta until firm. But while cooking the pasta, I remove the ½ cup of its water and set it aside. I strained the pasta when it is firm enough. The pasta is placed back over medium heat adding the half cup of reserved water, six ounces of shredded Gruyere and two tablespoons of butter. The cheese and the butter melt as I stirred the mixture. When the cheese and butter were finally melted, I added the two ounces of toasted walnuts. I sprinkle some salt and pepper for flavor. It is now ready to be served.
I’m done with the pasta when my best friend came. I offered her flowers and balloon as I played a birthday song. I then assist her towards the dining table and served her a bowl of warm Egg Fettuccine with butter, Gruyere Cheese and toasted walnuts garnished with a little pepper and grated Parmesan cheese atop. It made her happy. She was pleased and grateful for my surprise birthday plan for her. We chat cheerfully while eating my prepared dish. I am happy that my plan worked out.
